Fairway Wood Fitting

A fairway wood has to hold a reliable start line from two very different lies — off a tee and off the turf — which makes sole design and lie angle just as important as loft when we're dialing yours in.

Two Lies, One Start Line

Why Turf Interaction Changes the Fit

A fairway wood that starts the ball on line off a tee can behave completely differently off turf, where sole width and bounce interact with the ground and can twist the face open or closed a split second before contact. We test both lies during your session, not just tee shots.

We also check lie angle specifically for how you address the ball off the deck, since many golfers set up slightly differently for a fairway wood than a driver — a difference that shows up directly in your face angle readout.

What We Adjust

The Build Decisions That Matter Most

Sole Width & Bounce

A narrower sole with less bounce tends to reduce twisting through turf for steeper attack angles; a wider sole helps shallower swings glide through contact cleanly.

Lie Angle

Checked separately from your driver and iron numbers, since fairway wood setup and posture often differ enough to shift your effective lie angle at impact.

Loft & Head Count

We look at your carry gaps against your driver and hybrids together, so your fairway wood loft fills a real distance gap instead of duplicating a club you already carry.

Test Your Fairway Wood Start Line

Sessions run 45–60 minutes and include both tee and turf testing against your baseline.
